A couple of notes on the sidebar

* The Oiler EV+, EV- and EV points thing has been set up to give results for the playoff run. Some surprises there, probably because most of us tend to remember recent games more strongly.

* Using the salary cap calculator on the sidebar, if you enter 2120 (i.e. USD 2.12 billion) as the total league hockley related revenue for 05/06, then you get the cap as $44 million, and the floor at $28 million. Which are the numbers being bandied about confidently by many media outlets.

Damn that Horcoff is a numbers machine. Smyth disappointed me greatly most of the time in the playoffs aside from early on and Hemmer was not a defensive nightmare which is good. Most of the rest is as expected.

If we are serious in the off-season about improving then several big and controversial moves need to be made. I think we really have to consider moving Smyth and using his cap space on a guy with more offensive upside - Elias would be friggin perfect. Staios has also run out of gas IMO and it's time to move him now while he has some value. Love Stoll's faceoff skills - but he is likely very over-valued right now and is another potential move in the right deal.
